some sketchbook work

Here are some skulls I drew along side Matt Doyle while he was working on his senior thesis paintings. I really need to spend more time on my sketchbook drawings because lately I’ve been looking back on them and wishing they were more than they are. So, in an effort to do that, here is another Odd Nerdrum study. About an hour and 30min.

I did a faux tv guide cover illustration of Herman Munster in red pencil:

and I went out with Matt Doyle to paint a landscape from life. It’s the first time I’ve ever done that, and I’m really not used to painting wet into wet with oil paint outside with all the bugs flying around…. heh. I think it came out ok for my first try:
